Project "DC Teaching & Learning"
As part of the ‘DC Teaching & Learning’ project, a governance framework was developed to optimise digital functions that support teaching and learning processes – across all teaching and learning applications and systems!
The ‘DC Teaching & Learning’ governance framework was acknowledged and approved at the Rectors’ Council meeting on 5 March 2026 and serves as the counterpart for DC Academic Support Processes. It consists of two components:
- A basic framework: This provides the general framework for coordinating the various Teaching & Learning Domains.
- Digital Teaching & Learning Domains: these represent didactic, current and strategically relevant clusters of teaching and learning processes, supported by digital functions that are implemented in the various teaching and learning applications and systems.
The aim is to improve the coordination of digital functions designed to support teaching and learning processes across different applications and systems. This should help identify overlaps and conflicting objectives at an early stage and support developments that can be meaningfully integrated into the overall digital landscape.
The focus is on strategically and pedagogically relevant subject areas, known as ‘Digital Teaching & Learning Domains’ (e.g. ‘AI in Education’, ‘Assessment’ or ‘Quality Management in Teaching’). The governance structure serves to jointly coordinate developments in these domains and ensure they are better aligned. It is intended to act as a framework for coordination, alignment and exchange.
During the implementation phase, we will work with subject area and service managers to examine how the governance structure can be integrated with existing processes and whether any adjustments are required.
- A request for strategic development or enhancement is submitted to the Circle DC Teaching & Learning (a central email address will follow)
- Assignment to relevant domains, formation of a project team
- The project team draws up a proposal for the committee
- Decision and prioritisation by the committee
- If necessary: submission of a budget request to the school management for implementation
- Implementation by the relevant application teams
Some processes are already highly compatible with the new governance framework or are very closely aligned with UTL or EduIT. That is why we are starting with a few pilot projects in those areas.
- First, we are looking at the Innovedum pipeline. The aim of this pipeline (and the governance) is to ensure that Innovedum projects involving technical development align as closely as possible with the technical capabilities of the ETH landscape, so that the development is sustainable and scalable.
- As the next pilot project, we will work with the CourseMoodle team to examine their processes and how they can be integrated with the governance framework.
