Robotic skin with a sense of touch
A new artificial skin, developed by researchers in Pisa, features an ETH chip. This computer chip mimics the human nervous system, enabling it to reliably and rapidly detect touch. The technology could pave the way for advancements in robots, prosthetics, and wearable devices.
Sika supports ETH project for sustainable construction
Sika is participating as a funding partner in ETH Zurich’s “Living Lab HIL” project. With a significant financial contribution, Sika is supporting the early project phases “Exploration” (2026), “Synthesis” (2027) and “Transfer” (2028). During these stages, the renovation and expansion of the ETH building for architecture and civil engineering will be prepared and designed as a real-life case study for circular, resource-efficient and digital construction.

Ulrich Weidmann stepping down from the ETH Executive Board in spring 2027
Ulrich Weidmann, Vice President for Infrastructure and Sustainability (VPIN), will step down from the Executive Board at the end of March 2027. He will retire in mid-2028 and wishes to ensure a smooth transition into his post-work life. Surgery for quantum bits
Researchers at ETH Zurich and the Paul Scherrer Institute have used a special technique to control quantum bits. They demonstrated how to perform an operation between two logical qubits while simultaneously correcting errors that may occur during this operation.
